VERGENNES OPERA HOUSE ALL-ACCESS PROJECT

The Friends of Vergennes Opera House (FVOH) All-Access Project seeks to improve the accessibility of its 125-year-old building in the center of Vergennes. A new elevator tower will provide access to all floors of the building, and an interior lift will give access to the stage and dressing room levels. Site improvements to the alley between the Opera House and St. Paul’s Church will create a more welcoming entrance to both buildings. The Opera House has a long history as a cultural center for the city of Vergennes. Given the FVOH’s mission to maintain the building as a center for activities that “promote and celebrate a sense of community,” this project furthers that mission by ensuring that this iconic community treasure is indeed accessible to everyone.
