LANDMARK COLLEGE STUDENT RESIDENCES

This project provides housing for 80 students and includes five new buildings, each with four apartment style units. The two-story buildings gradually step up the wooded hillside east of the main campus quad. A series of wood-framed bridges link pedestrian paths to suites on the upper levels, while the lower level units are accessible directly from grade, greatly reducing the amount of interior circulation required and eliminating the need for elevators. Large perforated overhangs protect the south-facing common spaces from summer heat gain and glare, while allowing low winter sun to filter through. The clean, functional design and contemporary aesthetic appeals to young adults.
