This home sits on the site of an old cottage with a crumbling foundation. The design of the home takes advantage of southern lake views and solar exposure, and reflects the client’s desire for a modern home suited comfortably to its surroundings. By orienting living spaces to the south and service spaces to the north, the compact three-bedroom, two-bath home, with kitchen open to a tall great room and an open tower over the stair hall, feels warm, sunny, and spacious. Sliding doors close off the master suite. The desire for durability, low maintenance, and energy savings guided material selection.
