GINA BASILIERE

Designer

I grew up in the mountains of the North East Kingdom. The landscape there has deeply influenced my love of the natural world. As a kid, I always loved making things and would jump at any opportunity to create something with my hands. I would follow my father around in his wood shop, nailing scrap wood together and experimenting in any way I could. Just before high school, I had an opportunity to attend Camp Chewonki and participate in a renewable energy sailing trip. Here, I learned about passive solar design and creating a building that works in unison with the natural world that surrounds it. It was here that the spark was ignited and I knew that my deepest wish was to be a part of this design and build process. Since then, I have worked to develop my knowledge of the ecological world in correlation to the built environment to best understand how we can knit the two together to create regenerative, healthy spaces.

In my spare time, I can be found enjoying the deep Vermont winters teaching snowboarding and running an all-girls camp at Jay Peak Resort. I love hiking, gardening, swimming, and being outside whenever possible, enjoying all that Vermont has to offer with friends and family.
