CHRIS COOK
Maclay Studio Leader/Project Manager
Originally from Canada, I found my way to Vermont by way of Freiburg Germany to attend Yestermorrow Design Build School. This community of roll-up-your-sleeves, do-it-yourselfers helped to stretch my innovative thinking muscle. Already grounded in creating low energy buildings for a northern climate, Vermont offered the opportunity to grow my skills in mission-aligned firms. Thirty years into the profession, I continue to explore my process of looking at materials creatively, seeing problem solving as a way to find design opportunities, and using the power of a detail to bring delight to a project. I believe that successful projects and strong relationships within and outside of work come through clear communications and documentation.
I like to get my hands dirty – I throw pottery and enjoy gardening. I also enjoy biking year-round and raised my two independent daughters skiing at Mad River Glen. Having worked with Bill Maclay for 20 years, I am excited to have the opportunity to further Maclay Architects’ mission as part of the Vermont Integrated Architecture team.
