Westport Town Office Building
Westport, NY | 2012-2017
In the Fall of 2012, the Town of Westport selected VIA to study the existing Town Office building to determine the feasibility of renovating it to better serve its users and community long-term. The existing building is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings and has served many functions in the community from grange hall to roller rink to its current office and meeting functions. The existing building steps down a hillside to the east with great views of Lake Champlain and Vermont beyond. The proposed project adds a lift, appropriate egress stairs, new finishes, and substantial envelope improvements for energy efficiency and comfort to the three-story, 8,000 square foot structure.
In late 2014, the Town of Westport received $500,000 in state financing to renovate the Town Office Building. Improvements were completed in the fall of 2017.
