This project provides housing for 80 students and includes five new buildings, each with four apartment style units. The two-story buildings gradually step up the wooded hillside east of the main campus quad. A series of wood-framed bridges link pedestrian paths to suites on the upper levels, while the lower level units are accessible directly from grade – greatly reducing the amount of interior circulation required and eliminating the needs for elevators. Large perforated overhangs protect the south-facing common spaces from summer heat gain and glare, while allowing low-winter sun to filter through. The clean functional design and contemporary aesthetic appeals to young adults.
